PRESENTATION OF STA

STA SA, founded in 2001, aims to contribute to improving the nutritional status of the most vulnerable children, in particular by manufacturing products for the treatment or prevention of malnutrition, and to develop products adapted to the eating habits of the people of Niger.

STA was created as a successor to the ‘VITAMIL’ production facility set up in 1991 by CARITAS NIGER with subsidies from the Dutch Royal Tropical Institute (KIT) in order to support the government’s activities concerning infant nutrition.

Message from the Founder Dr. Fatchima Cissé

“In the Ottawa Charter, the World Health Organisation (WHO) defined the promotion of health as an approach aiming to give people greater control over their health and to ensure their physical well-being. STA’s approach is to support people by developing nutritional products (complementary, preventive, treatments), as malnutrition is the main aggravating factor in disease. Specifically, we manufacture products for children in the most vulnerable age bracket, from 6 months to 5 years old. Our mission is enshrined in our positioning in the field of health. It is therefore essential that the basic principles of infantile nutrition laid down by the WHO should be respected. The key factors in our success are the availability of the products, the ease of use and the price/quality ratio. In this way we make our contribution to the promotion of health, and to the socio-economic development of Niger and of the entire sub-region.”
