Local production of nutritional solutions:
A bridge between emergency and development
|
Since 2005 with the first large scale projects of local production of high-quality Ready-to-Use Foods, the PlumpyField network targeted several objectives:

![]() HILINA (Ethiopia) Peanuts sorting out |
By improving access to its nutritional solutions locally, the network creates employment and in doing so contributes not only to the fight against malnutrition, but also to the fight against poverty. In that sense, this network proposes a concrete solution to bridge the gap between emergency and development.

Measurable results on the ground
|
In 2011, on the 30 000 metric tons of Plumpy’Nut® totally produced, 10 200 have been manufactured by the PlumpyFieldpartners. All members producing successfully passed the international Quality inspection done by the procuring organisations. This demonstrates the success of the local production model and the high quality standards implemented in this network. The PlumpyField network is well on its way becoming a real community sharing values, know-how, quality standards, information, and incentives for further innovation.
